Joshua Cohen

Title: Volunteer

Projects: My Healthy Brain | RecoVR | Resilient Youth with NF | Active Brains | Recovering Together | Psychosocial Factors in Non-Arthritic Hip Disease

  • Joshua is a research volunteer at CHOIR (formerly IBHCRP) and a senior at Tufts University, where he studies community health. His specific interests include mindfulness, dementia prevention, and psychologically-informed perioperative care. Joshua is particularly fascinated by novel clinical technologies for patients that have not received benefit from traditional drug therapies. Joshua has broadened his clinical experience with neuromodulation working as an intern technician administering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments for patients with pharmacoresistant depression, anxiety, and OCD. Long-term, Joshua plans on pursuing a career in medicine that includes both research and clinical practice. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, exploring the Boston area, and watching trivia game shows.


Nina Ahmad

Title: Volunteer

Project: Resilient Together for Dementia

  • Nina is a research volunteer at CHOIR (formerly known as IBHCRP) and a third-year undergraduate student at Tufts University, where she studies Biology. She is passionate about understanding the lived experiences of people with dementia and family caregivers and building meaningful partnerships with these communities through both research and clinical care. Currently, Nina is working on Dr. Bannon's RT-D study aimed at developing a dyadic resiliency intervention for dyads at risk of emotional distress early after ADRD diagnoses. Outside of CHOIR, she is working with members of the Stakeholder Engagement Team at the IMPACT Collaboratory to study burden and depression among dementia caregivers. Nina plans to pursue a career in medicine with interests in geriatric care, neurology, and narrative medicine. In her free time, Nina enjoys dancing, listening to podcasts, watching stand-up comedy, and spending time with family and friends.


Anastasia Prussakova

Project: Reviewing mind-body interventions with psychosocial outcomes in multiple sclerosis (MS)

  • Anastasia is a research volunteer at CHOIR and a second-year undergraduate student at Boston College, where she studies psychology and English. Her various interests include child development, mindfulness, and cognitive neuropsychology, and she hopes to contribute to psychology or neuroscience research in the future. At Boston College, Anastasia currently works as an undergraduate research assistant in the Cooperation Lab, investigating the development of cooperative behaviors and children’s intuitive economic theories about resource valuation. In her free time, Anastasia enjoys reading, painting by numbers, and listening to music.


Ariel Emrani

Project: Reviewing mind-body interventions with psychosocial outcomes in multiple sclerosis (MS)

  • Ariel is a clinical research volunteer at CHOIR exploring dyadic treatments for individuals suffering from multiple sclerosis. She is also a second-year student studying behavioral neuroscience at Northeastern University. Within her studies, her main interests include sleep processes, drug therapies, mental health, and pain. In the past, she worked with the Brain and Body Lab at UCLA and is currently a Research Assistant in the Lifespan Emotional Development Lab at Northeastern. Outside of research, Ariel enjoys cooking, dancing, reading, and exploring new things with her friends and family.


Mallika Saksena

Projects: RecoVR | Active Brains

  • Mallika is a rising junior at The George Washington University studying Psychological and Brain Sciences. Her interests are primarily in sports psychology and injury recovery. She hopes to pursue a career in sports therapy. In addition to volunteering at CHOIR, Mallika is a research assistant in George Washington's EPIC lab, conducting research on disaster recovery. Being from the Boston area, Mallika enjoys the beach and cheering on all the local sports teams in her free time.


Zane Madi

Title: Volunteer 

Projects: RecoVR | My Healthy Brain

  • Zane is a research volunteer at CHOIR and a sophomore at Boston College, where he studies Economics. His specific interests include trauma injury rehabilitation, nutrition, and drug therapies. He also works with the Boston College Economics department researching hidden financial loopholes in the pharmaceutical industry. In the future, Zane aims to pursue a medical career that encompasses both research and clinical practice. Outside of research, Zane enjoys playing soccer, reading, and going on long drives.
